About Svtu

A brief history of Shenandoah Valley Trout Unlimited.

Shenandoah Valley Trout Unlimited was established in Waynesboro Virginia in 1976. The chapter has long been involved with the restoration of the South River and has completed a number of habitat improvement projects on the South River. The chapter was the driving force in developing the South River Special Regulations Area near Lyndhurst that opened for public access in January of 2011.

Shenandoah Valley Trout Unlimited annually stocks over 1000 Rainbow and Brown Trout in the Catch and Release area in downtown Waynesboro. Funding for the stockings is obtained from Tourism Grants, Local Sponsors, and Angler Donations. The chapter also sponsors twelve Trout in the Classroom
programs in area schools.
